Memory Care Communities
Assisted living communities are communities where individuals choose to reside in their own private apartments. These communities typically offer three meals daily, activities, transportation, housekeeping, as well as care offerings based on one’s individual care needs. Care giving staff is always onsite 24 hours a day. These are well-suited for individuals who are looking for a group like environment where social interaction is high on the priority list as well as care.
Residential care communities offer care in home-like settings. They are residential homes that have anywhere between 4 and 6 residents max with 24 hour staff. Oftentimes these locations are also referred as a board and care. These communities offer much of the same offerings as an assisted living community but on a more intimate level. Communities such as these would be well-suited for someone who is looking to have a more home-like setting rather than a large community setting.
Memory care communities offer memory support for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s or other memory related impairments. These communities are secured locations where residents will be cared for by specially trained staff 24 hours a day. Activities in these communities are catered to the residents’ specific needs and abilities. Communities such as these typically offer a lower ratio of residents to care staff as these individuals require more assistance. Typically these communities are selected due to a loved one having been diagnosed with a memory impairment that requires him or her be in a safe and secure location for their well-being.
